Civil Rights Leader to Serve as a “March Captain”

(WASHINGTON D.C.) – March for Kids, a diverse grassroots movement defending parental rights and prioritizing children, announced today that Dr. Alveda King, a civil rights leader and niece of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., has joined as a “March Captain.” Dr. King is the founder of Alveda King Ministries, a best-selling author, a contributor to the Fox News Channel and a former member of the Georgia House of Representatives.

“As a mother of six children, I know personally just how invested parents and grandparents are in the futures of their kids. We are their supporters, their protectors and their foremost guidance in life. They are our most precious treasure and our most important legacy,” Dr. King said. “But now, bureaucrats and politicians at every level of government are trying to subvert the authority we parents and grandparents have in their lives. They want to inflict a radical agenda that robs our children of their innocence and needlessly divides them. It’s time that we stand up in a loud voice and say, ‘No more.’”

Dr. King has dedicated her life to honoring the memory of her uncle by fighting for equality and for marginalized groups. She also serves as a board member and senior advisor to Priests for Life and is chairwoman of the America First Policy Institute’s Center for the American Dream.

“For generations, our family has been unafraid to stand up to government bullies who violate the rights of the American people. That’s why I am honored to serve as a ‘March Captain’ in the 2024 March for Kids. It is the first step in reclaiming our country for our children and our grandchildren,” Dr. King said. “I invite everyone who cares about protecting children against harmful political forces to join us at the March for Kids. Together, we still stand shoulder-to-shoulder as a new generation seeking justice, and I am confident we will succeed.”

March for Kids will take place at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 31, 2024, on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. This nonpartisan event will raise awareness of the need to protect the rights of parents to direct their children’s upbringing. During The March for Kids, thousands of families and dozens of coalition partners will walk together around the Tidal Basin, concluding with a rally at the Jefferson Memorial featuring keynote speakers and entertainment.
