(WASHINGTON D.C.) – March for Kids, a grassroots movement defending parental rights and prioritizing children, announced today a list of objectives it will rally behind on August 31, 2024, on the National Mall in its inaugural demonstration, the first-ever expressly for the needs of children and the rights of their parents. These include:

ONE: Legal Status for Parental Rights
Today, states can arbitrarily strip parents of their rights, like the recent example in California where teachers are legally prohibited from telling parents if their child is transitioning.

March for Kids demands that states pass laws that recognize the fundamental right of parents to direct the upbringing of their children, including but not limited to their education, medical care and religion. Each state is different, and the specifics may be different, but the core statute should protect the legal rights of parents.

TWO: Ending Sex Reassignment Treatments for Minors

In recent years, American parents have been unjustly targeted for a refusal to indulge a minor’s gender dysphoria, with critics insisting that a failure to do so would result in their children committing suicide. Today, many countries lead the United States, including the United Kingdom’s National Health Service, in outlawing barbaric gender mutilation surgeries that some American medical professionals insist are “gender affirmation” procedures.

March for Kids demands states categorically outlaw sex reassignment treatments of individuals who are under the age of 18.

THREE: Respects Girls’ and Women’s Sports and Privacy

Sports are a critical avenue for building self-esteem, self-discipline and strength in everyone, including girls and women. Separating sports by sex levels the playing field, which creates more, not fewer, opportunities for participation.

Today, women’s sports are under assault as biological males, with dramatically higher levels of testosterone that give them an obvious physical advantage, are allowed to compete. As a result, thousands of women and girls are robbed of recognition and deprived of opportunities because of a political agenda that is supposedly based on tolerance, but the real-world effect is a sinister move to reverse decades of progress since the passage of Title IX.

March for Kids demands each state pass a law protecting the rights of women and girls to compete in sex-specific sports, as well as have access to their own sex-specific locker rooms and school restrooms.

FOUR: Promote Educational Freedom

America’s public education system was established to create educated citizens who could fully participate in public discourse essential for a functional democracy. Parents have always been critical stakeholders in the education of their children, until recently when ideologically motivated school boards, administrators and activists decided to make public education an ideological battlefield rather than a place of mutual respect and truth-seeking.

March for Kids demands states codify the rights of parents to choose the best option for their child’s education rather than bestowing that sacred right onto unelected, self-interested bureaucrats.
